How not to name your product/company in a global market
A good friend of mine is a French translator who also does voice overs for French language TV commercials, training videos, etc. At lunch this weekend, he told me a story about a client that made me think about how overly US-centric most companies still are. Most companies these days [...]
They are a part of your team even after they leave…
VC Rick Segal has a great post about how to treat employees who are leaving your company.
The Post Money Value: Exit Stage Left - Your last chance
Over the years at Yahoo! and at other companies I’ve inevitably had to watch some great team members move onto new and different careers, take time [...]
Podcast interview on Podtech.net
John Furrier at podtech.net interviewed me last week at BlogOn for his InfoTalk series.
We actually cover a pretty wide variety of stuff about RSS from how to make it easier, to my favorite Cub Scout RSS feed, and on to our research.
I usually hate how my voice sounds on [...]

Conferences bring a much needed reminder

If only we could all be this honest…
I’ve begun to read the Signal vs. Noise blog on a regular basis (its on my own My Yahoo!). I find all of the guys there insightful but I particularly look out for Jason Fried’s posts.
Today, Jason points out a great thing: Bessemer Venture Partners Anti-Portfolio.
BVP isn’t afraid [...]
NYC conferences: BlogOn and Empowering Brands Conference
I’m heading out to New York for two conferences where I’ll be speaking.
The first is BlogOn 2005 on Monday & Tuesday (10/17 & 10/18). I’ve been on their advisory panel and I’m also speaking at a session. Last year’s blog on was a great event, but clearly targeted to the [...]
On the field at Wrigley
On the Apprentice this week the winning team got to go on the field of Shea Stadium and play a little baseball with some Mets players. (is that really a reward, couldn’t they have gone to see the Yankees?) Craig mentioned how he thought that’d be a cool thing to [...]
Quote of the week
While reading USA Today yesterday on my plane ride home, I read this great quote in an article about Web 2.0 by Kevin Maney:
It had all new buzzwords. Remember “B2B” and “push technology”? Now it’s “user-generated content” and “AJAX”. Until last week I thought AJAX was a cleaning fluid…but no–it’s an acronym for something [...]
